Mr. Paine has served as a CEB Panelist for the program entitled “Insurance Coverage Problems in Motor Vehicle Cases.” He has been a speaker and panelist for the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel Conference entitled “Obligations of the Primary to the Excess Insurer.” He delivered a paper entitled “Insurance Coverage: Nuts and Bolts,” at the Atlanta Annual Conference of the Risk and Insurance Management Society.

Mr. Paine served on a panel of four experts at a one-day seminar entitled “Recent Developments in Insurance Law,” sponsored by the Lorman Business Center. He spoke at a Professional Liability Underwriters' Society seminar entitled "Miscellaneous E&O--Problems Insuring Independent Contractors". Mr. Paine addressed the Orange County Patent Law Association on insurance coverage issues in intellectual property disputes.

Mr. Paine's customary fields of practice include insurance, reinsurance and professional liability litigation. He has qualified as an expert witness in the field of insurance coverage and bad faith claims handling and often serves as an expert witness or consultant.

Mr. Paine was the Managing Partner of Cotkin & Collins from 1991 through 1996.
